Six real options, including the case for staying where you are. ChartMogul is the most capable product in this category, so the useful question is not which tool is best, it is which one fits how you bill and how you want to be charged.
Price, most of the time. ChartMogul charges on the annual recurring revenue it tracks, across seven bands from $0 to $10M ARR and then Enterprise from $19,900 a year. That means the analytics bill rises every time the number it is reporting rises, and teams tend to notice at exactly the moment growth is costing them elsewhere too.
The second trigger is the free threshold. ChartMogul is free up to $120,000 ARR, which is genuinely generous. The step off it is awkward: Starter caps you at three team members and removes CRM sources, both of which the free plan gave you. Paying for the first time and getting less is a memorable experience.
After that it thins out into specifics. Filters combine with AND only, which their own documentation confirms. Warehouse destinations and advanced exports start at Pro. Reconciliation against the source billing system is the most durable complaint in their reviews, still showing up in 2026, though manual MRR edits with an audit trail have taken some of the sting out.
Feature lists in this category all look the same. These five questions are what actually separate the options.
Most tools here charge on the revenue they are measuring, so the bill grows exactly when you succeed. Price the tool at the size you expect to be in two years, not the size you are now.
This disqualifies faster than anything else. Zuora, Recurly, Chargebee and Braintree narrow the field immediately, and so do Creem and Asaas at the other end.
API access, forecasting, a second billing source and extra seats are all commonly gated. The headline price and the price you pay are often different numbers.
Knowing your churn and doing something about it are different products. If failed payments are the actual problem, buy a dunning tool, not a nicer chart.
Every tool here rebuilds metrics from your billing system, so your history follows you. What does not follow is anything created inside the tool: manual corrections, custom attributes, CRM records.
Ours is first because it is our site. The rest are ordered by how often they are the right answer, not by how much we would like them to be.
Free under $1,000 MRR, then $19/month, or $15 billed yearly
Ours, so weigh it accordingly. It covers the same metric set, adds forecasting, cohorts, revenue timing, risk analysis, goals and maps on every plan, and charges one flat price no matter how large the book gets. It reads Stripe, Paddle, Creem and Asaas.
$75 to $1,152/month by ARR band, plus $129/month per add-on
The strongest retention tooling in the category. Recover runs proper dunning sequences with hosted card update pages and card write-back, and Cancellation Insights can apply a Stripe coupon automatically when someone accepts a retention offer. The analytics are good and the design is better than most.
Free, with a paid Metrics Plus tier whose price is not published
Part of Paddle since 2022, still free, still open to new signups whether or not you bill through Paddle, and rated 4.8 on G2. The limits are documented rather than hidden, and whether they matter depends entirely on how you bill.
Included with Stripe; Sigma and Data Pipeline are paid add-ons(varies by usage; we have not priced this one for you)
Easy to forget, and for a single-Stripe business it goes further than people expect. The billing dashboard has revenue and subscriber reporting built in, and Sigma lets you write SQL against your own Stripe data. If you have one Stripe account and someone comfortable with SQL, this may be all you need.
Warehouse and BI licences, plus the engineering time to build and keep it(varies by usage; we have not priced this one for you)
Pipe billing data into BigQuery, Snowflake or Postgres and model MRR yourself, then put Metabase, Looker or Omni on top. Every tool on this list, including ours, is an opinion about how to model subscription revenue. If your business does not fit those opinions, building it is the honest answer.
Free under $120K ARR, then $69 to $1,439/month by ARR band
The option most roundups skip. If you are here because of price, it is worth knowing what you would be giving up: about 31 billing sources, a decade of revenue modelling on strange billing arrangements, industry benchmarks from thousands of companies, and a CRM included at no extra cost.
Where these numbers come from
Prices and limits were read off the vendor’s own pages on August 13, 2026. Review sites and comparison roundups carry stale pricing for every product here, so we do not use them as a source. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
Connect a read-only key and Kometrics rebuilds your billing history in minutes. Free under $1,000 MRR, then $19 a month at any size.
No credit card. Read-only access to your billing data.
