Comparison

Kometrics vs ChartMogul

The most established subscription analytics platform in the category, running since 2014 and used by over 3,000 software companies. Built for businesses whose billing is genuinely complicated: several billing systems at once, usage-based pricing, multi-currency books, mid-contract plan changes. Their argument is that a decade of revenue modeling is the thing that makes the numbers trustworthy, and that AI on top of unmodeled billing data just produces confident nonsense.

The short version

ChartMogul is the deepest subscription analytics platform in the category and the one to beat on billing complexity, breadth of integrations and benchmark data. It also charges on the ARR it tracks, so the bill climbs as you grow. Kometrics covers four billing sources instead of thirty and has no CRM, and costs $19 a month whether your book is $50,000 or $5 million.

Pricing is the real difference

ChartMogul prices on the annual recurring revenue it tracks for you, across seven bands from $0 to $10M ARR, then Enterprise from $19,900 a year. At $1M ARR you are paying between $165 and $299 a month depending on tier. At $7M ARR that is between $619 and $1,139 a month. The logic is defensible, since a bigger book is more data to model, but the effect is that your analytics bill rises every time the number it is reporting rises.

Kometrics is $19 a month, or $15 billed yearly, at every size. There are no bands and no seat counts. That is the entire pricing page.

Give ChartMogul its due at the bottom of the range, though: their free tier runs to $120,000 ARR with unlimited team members, the CRM, benchmarks and API access included. Ours stops at $1,000 MRR. If you are early and free is the requirement, ChartMogul is the more generous offer and we would rather you knew that from us.

Under $120K ARR, ChartMogul free beats our free tier. Above it, our price stops moving and theirs does not.

Depth of the revenue model

This is what ChartMogul has spent a decade on, and it is not marketing. They handle proration, refunds and credits, paused subscriptions, add-ons, overages, contracts that switch currency mid-life, and the same subscription appearing across two billing systems. They also break out how much of your MRR movement was currency drift rather than real expansion, which almost nothing else in this category does.

Kometrics rebuilds MRR from billing events the same way, stores money as integer cents so nothing rounds away, and reconciles against the source. What we have not done is meet as many strange billing arrangements as a platform running since 2014, and if your billing is genuinely unusual that experience is worth paying for. One concrete gap: we skip tiered and metered prices rather than guess at them, so usage-based billing is a reason to choose ChartMogul over us.

It is worth knowing the other side too. The most persistent theme across ChartMogul reviews, going back years and still appearing in 2026, is numbers not reconciling with the source billing system. They have since shipped manual MRR edits with an exportable audit trail, which is a sensible answer to it.

ChartMogul has met more edge cases than we have. If your billing is complicated, that is the strongest argument for them on this page.

What each one includes that the other does not

ChartMogul ships a full CRM: pipelines, opportunities tied to the subscription lifecycle, tasks, email sequences and connected mailboxes, included at no extra cost. It also has industry benchmarks drawn from thousands of SaaS companies and drawn straight onto your charts, which is a board-deck asset no smaller product can manufacture. We have neither, and the CRM is a deliberate choice rather than a roadmap gap.

What Kometrics includes is the Explore toolset: Forecast for where MRR lands if the last few months repeat, Revenue Calendar for which days the cash actually arrives, Risk Radar for the MRR carrying a warning sign before it leaves, plus Cohorts, Maps and Goals. Every one of them is on every plan, because there is only one plan. Kometrics AI reads the same live book and answers questions about it in plain language.

Both products have AI. ChartMogul has an AI analyst and an MCP server available even on their free tier, and it is a substantial implementation rather than a demo. We would rather say that than imply we invented something here.

They have the CRM and the benchmarks. We have forecasting, cash timing and risk analysis without a tier upgrade.

Integrations

ChartMogul reads about 31 billing and payment sources, plus App Store Connect and Google Play, in a catalog of roughly 60 integrations. If you bill through Zuora, Recurly, Chargebee, Braintree, GoCardless or Maxio, this comparison is already over: they support it and we do not.

Kometrics reads Stripe, Paddle, Creem and Asaas, with webhooks included, and connecting more than one costs nothing extra. The Asaas and Creem support is the part worth flagging, because if you sell in Brazil or through a merchant of record, those are hard to find elsewhere.

Check your billing system first. If it is on their list and not on ours, nothing else on this page matters.

What each one costs as you grow

The same book priced by all four tools. ChartMogul and Baremetrics both charge on the revenue they are measuring, so their columns climb with yours. Ours does not move.

Who each one is for

Choose Kometrics if

  • Founders and small teams who want the whole picture without a bill that grows with the thing they are trying to grow
  • Companies billing through Stripe, Paddle, Creem or Asaas
  • Anyone who wants forecasting, cohorts and risk analysis without a tier upgrade
  • Teams selling in Brazil or through a merchant of record

Choose ChartMogul if

  • Companies running more than one billing system that need a single consolidated book
  • Businesses with genuinely complex billing: usage-based pricing, multi-currency, custom contract terms
  • Teams who want benchmarks against thousands of other SaaS companies
  • Teams who want their revenue analytics and their CRM in one place
  • Anyone under $120K ARR who wants a serious free tier

Where Kometrics falls short

You are going to find this out in week two anyway. Better you hear it now.

  • We are the newest product here. ChartMogul has been at this since 2014 and it shows in the edge cases they have already met.
  • Four billing sources against ChartMogul’s thirty-plus. If you bill through Zuora, Recurly, Chargebee or Braintree, we cannot read it yet.
  • No CRM. ChartMogul ships pipelines, deals, tasks and connected mailboxes; we deliberately do not.
  • No dunning or payment recovery. We will show you the MRR sitting on failed payments, but Baremetrics Recover and Paddle Retain actually go and win it back.
  • No industry benchmark dataset. ChartMogul compares you against thousands of companies; we compare you against your own history.
  • Tiered and metered prices are not supported. A price with no fixed unit amount is skipped rather than guessed at, so usage-based billing is not a fit yet.

Moving from ChartMogul

  1. 1

You do not export anything. Both tools rebuild your history from the billing system itself, so connecting Stripe, Paddle, Creem or Asaas to Kometrics gives you your full book back without touching ChartMogul.

  2. 2

What does not travel is anything that only ever lived inside ChartMogul: manual MRR edits, custom attributes, and CRM records like notes, opportunities and email sequences. Export those first if they matter.

  3. 3

Mind the clock on the way out. ChartMogul deactivates the account about 15 days after you cancel and purges data roughly 60 days after that, so pull your exports before you close the account, not after.

  4. 4

A sensible way to do it is to run both for a month and compare the MRR line. If the two disagree, we would rather find out why during an overlap than after you have cancelled.

Common questions

Is Kometrics cheaper than ChartMogul?
Almost always, and the gap widens as you grow. ChartMogul prices on the ARR it tracks, so a book at $1M ARR costs between $165 and $299 a month depending on tier. Kometrics is $19 a month at any size, or $15 billed yearly. The exception is a book under $120K ARR, where ChartMogul is free and more generous than our free tier.
What does ChartMogul do that Kometrics does not?
Several real things. It reads about 31 billing sources against our four, so Zuora, Recurly, Chargebee and Braintree are covered there and not here. It includes a full CRM with pipelines, deals and connected mailboxes. It has industry benchmarks from thousands of companies. And it has been modelling subscription revenue since 2014, which shows in the edge cases.
Can I move my data from ChartMogul to Kometrics?
You do not need to. Both tools rebuild your history from the billing system itself, so connecting Stripe, Paddle, Creem or Asaas to Kometrics gives you your full history without an export. What does not carry over is anything that only ever lived inside ChartMogul: manual MRR edits, custom attributes, CRM notes and opportunities.
Is ChartMogul more accurate than Kometrics?
Both rebuild MRR from billing events rather than estimating it. ChartMogul handles more billing edge cases simply because it has met more of them, particularly around multi-system subscriptions and currency drift. Their reviews also show the flip side: reconciliation against the source billing system is the most persistent complaint in a decade of ChartMogul reviews.
Which should I choose?
Choose ChartMogul if you run several billing systems, need a CRM in the same product, or want benchmark data. Choose Kometrics if you bill through Stripe, Paddle, Creem or Asaas and would rather not have your analytics bill grow every time your revenue does.
